YPs,

My colleagues and I have shared many of our ideas and feelings as Young Professionals but now we want to hear from you!!! We are looking for you guys and gals to talk about your experiences as Young Professionals in your respective areas of interests and life in general. The blogs are not limited to work experiences so feel free to blog about what’s on your mind. Please submit blogs to our e-mail ypblogspot@yahoo.com and we’ll post it as the YP Guest Blog of the Week. We look forward to your blogs and thanks for the continued support.

This weeks blog of the week is courtesy of fashion enthusiast YPJLiz who currently is working in the fashion industry.

YPJLiz:

Just because you work in a stuffy corporate environment doesn’t mean you have to dress like a corporate drone. Corporate clothes can be extremely boring; Black suits, white button-ups, black shoes…where’s the personality, the flavor?! As much as recruiters tout diverse personalities as an asset to the company, they leave no room for expressing it through your work attire. So in all attempts to not get you fired, sent home for the day, or deemed the office tramp, I have compiled some looks from Michael Kors’ Fall 2009 runway that would work well in the workplace as well as some looks from Rachel Roy strictly for inspiration (please don’t wear your bra exposed at work!).

The Kor’s show featured many sophisticated looks for work and Roy exhibited some of Fall’s hottest trends. From tweeds and leather to neon and nude-colored shoes, there is a lot to be inspired by. Considering these are trends, you should be able to find ‘look-a-likes’ at stores such as NY & Company and The Limited because let’s face it, as much as we Young Professionals aspire to be millionaires, we’re not there yet! So, shop the sales, make sure everything has a proper fit and as always add your personality by accessorizing with jewelry, handbags and the most important accessory of all…confidence.
