TGIF YP’s! I came across this music video and thought it was pretty dope. This group reminds me of Black Eyes Peas, and it is a perfect sound to start your weekend off right. Have a safe, fun-filled weekend YP’s, and make it count!
“Vision without action is a daydream; Action without vision is a nightmare.”
This quote definitely hit home YPs for the simple fact that it just makes so much sense. We focus on the desire to be successful and what is required to be successful here on YPBlogSpot. Before you can get to ‘Successville’ YPs you have to have a vision/plan before you do anything. A vision/plan will allow you to work more efficiently because you’ll know where you’re going and how you plan on getting there. This will save you from wasting precious time and energy on doing unnecessary tasks in addition to delaying your success.
For instance, think about a time you purchased a piece of furniture that you had to put together. Instead Read more »
Good morning YPs! Hope your weekends went well and your Mondays are off to a great start. I wanted to share a clip from one of my favorite movies House Party featuring 80’s hip-hop group Kid-N-Play. This is the clip in which Kid-N-Play have a good old rap battle using no vulgar language but they still get their points across. I love Bilal’s (Martin Lawrence) saying after the rap battle is over, “Oh yea, anything y’all can do…I, I also can do…but I can also do it better,”. I believe this is a classic moment in hip-hop and a testimony that rap battles can be tasteful but competitive simultaneously. But checkout this clip that I’m sure you remember seeing multiple times growing up and enjoy YPs! Have a great day!!!
YPRichB: Flauce returns with another Freestyle for your listening pleasures from his upcoming mixtape “Take It Personal” tentatively scheduled to drop later this month. As a huge music fan I’m happy to see Flauce pay homage to Big L. Big L is someone who never really got a chance to reach his full potential due to him being murdered in 1999. Jay-Z has said that Big L was set to sign with his Roc-A-Fella label, but was murdered the week before the scheduled signing. Check out Flauce’s “Big L-ish (Freestyle)” and be on the lookout for that mixtape “Take it Personal” dropping soon.
A few days ago J. Cole performed at SOB’s in NYC and debuted some new songs and freestyles. Like I’ve said in the past, I think J. Cole is definitely going to make a mark in hip-hop. Check out the freestyles below and be on the lookout for his debut album this summer.
YPRichB: Well it looks like the self-proclaimed “King of the South” is back with his first song since being released from prison. T.I. has been one of my favorite rappers for the past 5 years or so and I’m definitely happy to see him back at it. His upcoming untitled album is due out this summer. Check out “I’m Back” below.
YPRichB: As someone who truly loves music from all aspects (musical production to finished songs) I love gaining insight into artists inspiration and feelings on their projects. I’ve always been drawn to documentary style films because they are usually so insightful. I’ve never heard of K. Sparks before today but after watching this EPK (Electronic Press Kit) I’m definitely interested in checking out his music. Watch the EPK above and check out more info on the album below. It definitely seems like a worthwhile listen. Album available March 2, 2010.
Flauce is back to bless us with another track off his upcoming mixtape “Take It Personal”. On “Day Dreaming” Flauce goes in exploring thoughts in his mind while day dreaming. Definitely a dope concept and good song. Check it out and make sure to comment and let us know what you think.
Flauce blesses us with another track off his anticipated upcoming mixtape “Take It Personal”. Here he tackles Drake’s “Fear” to give us some insight into his personal life. From the death of his grandmother (R.I.P.) to him wanting to provide for his mother through his hard work, Flauce definitely bears his soul on this joint. Give it a listen and let us know what you think.
Ludacris has been one of the most consistent MCs since he came out back in 2000 and this mixtape adds to that legacy. Luda decided to snatch up some popular instrumentals (Wasted, All the Way Turnt Up, O Lets Do It) and do his thing. Check out the few songs from the mixtape below and make sure to check out the mixtape as well.
Flauce is set to drop his anticipated mixtape Take It Personal this spring to heat up the summer just right and here is another track that will be on the mixtape “Got You Open”. A soulful, smooth track that Flauce displays good word play that begins with a smooth delivery then he transitions into a fast delivery then back to a smooth delivery displaying his versatility as a MC. I’m impressed and can’t wait for the mixtape Take It Personal to drop this spring but until then I will have this on the iPod and in the wheel. Enjoy this track called “Got You Open” by Flauce YPs.
Skillz has done it again by putting together his annual year end rap up of what happened the year before. If you’re not familiar with Skillz, he’s one of the most under appreciated and underrated rappers that has been putting out good hip-hop music for years. He’s a ghost writer and has ghost written for some of your favorite rappers so get familiar with him (Google Skillz) if you’re not because he’s definitely one of my favorite MCs to pick up a mic and put pen/pencil to paper with his wordplay and lyricism displayed in his music. Now I know we all had our ups and downs in 2009 and celebrities are not immune from ups and downs either so enjoy Skillz’s “2009 Rap Up” as he takes us down memory lane of the ups and downs of 2009 within the entertainment and music industries along with any and all scandals that took place this past year. Enjoy YPs and let’s just laugh at our ups and downs of 2009 then move forward amicably into 2010.
YPRichB: I got an opportunity to check this album out over the weekend and it was definitely a change of pace from what’s normally being played in the “mainstream”. The album displays a collection of producers and rappers telling a story about a crime drama throughout the whole album. I was really impressed on how the production seemed to have “one sound” to it from track to track despite having more than one producer. The album was very cohesive in sound and overall direction. Definitely check out the album sampler and read the press release below.
From the depths of the Maryland underground, Brake Fast Records is proud to present “Cases” – an album filled with witty lyrics, shifting stream of consciousness raps and intriguing storytelling, all backed by a dark, enthralling soundscape. With top notch production from beat extraordinaires Tom Delay, Mark Henry (Raheem Devaughn, Freeway) and Nick Tha 1da (Emilio Rojas, Ken Starr), to put it simply…the album knocks! Read more »
I’ve posted the original song and video. What’s next? The remix!! Check out G.O.O.D. Music’s remix of Consequence’s “Whatever you Want.”
“To all the Halle Berrys and the younger Toni Braxtons/ It’s time to cut, glad you made the casting/ Look at my jewelry, damn that sh*t splashing/ Not only do I love it, I love it with a passion/Get what you want….”

Check out this new track by Flauce “Mic Please” off his upcoming mixtape “Take it Personal”. Here Flauce goes in over J. Cole’s “Lights Please” beat and speaks on some issues he sees with the music being presented today. The first verse illustrates this point as Flauce explores how rappers aren’t truthful in their music with lines like:
“I got this microphone that I use for my talent / to share the industry a public service announcement/ and talk about the balance but really its the epitome of problems that we facing/ due to their inconsistencies/ muthafuck*** make believe, the audience may believe / shit that you record in the studio just to make some cheese/ however you may achieve, you leave out the truth/ i guess its for sales, he saying shit to recoup”
Later he digs into the potential influence these lines have on the listeners by saying:
“…so they think it’s cool to hustle and sell crack/ promoting what he rap they thinking he does that/ but they don’t know the shit in the video ain’t fact / walking around strapped cause they see him on the tube / and the blog site he got hold about a million views”
He definitely goes in on this track and makes some really valid points on some issues that really hurt mainstream rap without sounding too preachy. This track is definitely worth your listen. Be on the look out for his upcoming mixtape “Take It Personal”. As soon as it drops we’ll have a review and a link for y’all. For now enjoy “Mic Please”.
