I Will Always Prevail..

‘I had to hustle, my back to the wall, ashy knuckles…Pockets filled with a lot of lint, not a cent’

YPs, this is one of my favorite lines from Jay Z, in his song Renegade with Eminem off of his Blueprint album.  This line reminds me of the ‘fight’ that we must posses inside of us, to make it in this world.  A lot of times, the world throws us curve balls that we must adjust to.  Things do not always go as planned but that does not mean that we should give up.  YPRuck and myself, have had several conversations, regarding this very issue.  We always agree that we must be proactive instead of reactive.  We should all be working to put ourselves in a position to win from the gate, not to come back from behind.  Too many times we find ourselves with our ‘backs against the wall’ before we implement any plan of action.  When this happens, we are forced to fight!!!

Good Quote From Jay-Z “DREAMS”

“All I got is dreams nobody else can see, nobody else believes, nobody else but me.”

This is a line from Jay-Z’s single entitled “History” that he released during Barack Obama’s historic Presidential campaign in 2008.  I’m sure you’ve heard this song but I want to focus on the quote above referring to DREAMS.  We all have dreams that we all would love to bring into fruition but for one reason or another they never materialize into nothing more than a dream.  As Jay-Z put it, nobody can see our dreams which makes it hard for people to believe them.  Simply put, we determine whether or not we are going to live our dreams by seeing and believing in them even when others doubt or attempt to discourage us from achieving the goals of our dreams.  Think about when someone tells you their dreams and be honest whether you say it or not, there is more than likely some skepticism that creeps into your mind which is natural because you can’t see their dreams.  Our dreams have no shot of becoming reality if  WE don’t believe in them so disregard the people that cannot see your dreams or believe in them, they have no bearing on your dreams, YOU do!  As YPDSing so eloquently put it, “Be Successful: In Spite Of”.  Live your DREAMS YPs!

YPRichB’s Songs of the Moment (featuring Snoop/Jay-Z & Statik Selektah)

Snoop Dogg feat Jay-Z-I Wanna Rock G Mix

I have to say that new Snoop album “Malice in Wonderland” was actually really good to me. I’ve always like Snoop but didn’t really start listening to his albums (excluding his debut) until “The Blue Carpet Treatment”. The original “I Wanna Rock” is a CRAZY record. The beat is hypnotic and Snoop definitely does his thing. Well this time around Jay-Z decided to jump on it and remix the record with a brand new verse from Snoop. Check out the “I Wanna Rock” G Mix featuring Jay-Z.

Statik Selektah feat Bun B, Colin Munroe, and Wale- So Close, So Far

I’m not sure how I caught on to Statik Selektah’s music but for those unfamiliar he’s a DJ/producer and he’s dropped two albums (“Spell My Name Right” and “Stick to the Script”) prior to his upcoming album “100 proof” due out in February. His albums were really dope to me and I’m definitely feeling this new single “So Close, So Far” featuring Bun B, Colin Munroe, and Wale.

Jay-Z featuring Swizz Beatz- On to the next one (Music Video)

There’s been a lot of talk concerning this music video and possibly some hidden messages in the imagery. I personally am not familiar with “Illuminati” and/or “Freemasons” to speak on any hidden messages going on in the video but the video is a bit strange to me. Check out Jay-Z’s new video featuring Swizz Beatz “On to the next one” and see for yourself. Enjoy.

Sports Weekend: Philly vs New York

Philadelphia Skyline.

NYC Skyline.

There are a quite a few things that I like to do and watching just about any and every sport is one of them. Being born in Philadelphia and raised in South Jersey I am well aware of the Philly andNew York rivalry which is gonna be at a all time high this weekend.  Philly fans are notorious for being the most passionate sports fans you can find anywhere and this can be a great thing sometimes and a bad things others.  Philly fans are going to be in rare form regardless of the outcomes this weekend with their respective teams so New York fans beware and you may want to be afraid! The Philly versus New York sports schedule is as follows.  Saturday, the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees will face off in game 3 of the 2009 World Series in Philly to see who will take the lead in the series.

Philadelphia Phillies

New York Yankees

That same night the Philadelphia 76ers will play the New York Knicksin Madison Square Garden which a lot of people probably won’t pay much attention to but it’s still a NY versus Philly match up.

Philadelphia 76ers

NY Knicks

Then, Sunday the New York “Football” Giants will play the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly on Broad Street right across from the Citizens Bank Park and this is an important game for both teams because the winner of this game will be in first place in the NFC East.

Philadelphia Eagles

new-york-giants-logo

Later on that night, the Fightin’ Phillies and the Yanks will play game 4 of the World Series.  Philly is going to be bananas!  I can only see one New York team winning this weekend and that will be the New York Giants which is my team but I believe the Sixers will beat up on the Knicks on Saturday and my Phillies will take control of the World Series and win both games 3 and 4 and hopefully end andwin their 2nd title in as many years in game 5.  Times like this make me so homesick but I will enjoy watching to see what happens this weekend and after this weekend Philly and New York fans will hate each other even more than they already do!  I’ve been talking all types of trash to Yankees fans via email, twitter, and Facebook and will continue to do so.  Go 76ers!  Go Giants! Go Phillies!  Who are you rooting for?

BREAKING NEWS: Beanie Sigel has just released a Jay-Z diss record taking this Philly vs NY weekend to a whole other level.  Wow!  I can’t choose because I love and respect both artists but I think Beans is venting and I don’t think this is going to turn into a big battle of words or at least I hope not.  Jay-Z needs to touch base with Beans and rectify the situation because they were great together and had hip-hop on smash.  It’s the Roc!  But take a listen for yourself.

Good Quote from Jay-Z “So Ambitious”

Jay-Z

“I’m different, I can’t base what I’m gonna be off a what everybody isn’t, they don’t listen, just whispering behind my back, no vision, lack of ambition.”

YPRuck: This is a line from the second verse of “So Ambitious” a track off of Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 that dropped a month ago.  The title of the track “So Ambitious” sums up the drive and ambition it takes to be successful and beat any and all odds.  No matter what type of background you come from or regardless of the hurdles/obstacles thrown your way YP’s, we must be ambitious and determined to accomplish our goals.  In addition, stop taking advice from people that are not successful and are quick to shoot down your dreams because of their lack of ambition instead seek the advice and support of those that are successful and support your aspirations and ambition to succeed.
