The wait is finally over!!! For the past year we’ve been featuring music from Flauce and now his highly anticipated mixtape “Take it Personal” has finally arrived. We’ve had the opportunity to get an early listen to it and it’s definitely been worth the wait. Flauce has definitely proved that he’s a great MC with a bright future ahead of him.
Feel free to download the mixtape. Additionally, there is a donate button located at the bottom of this post in order to support Flauce’s cause. A donation of $3 will more than suffice but whatever you deem necessary is definitely appreciated. Thanks again and enjoy this great music.
“Every now and then you got to ask yourself: Do you really want to win or just look good losing?”
by Phonte
The song “Dreams” by rap group Little Brother is about what the title suggests, having dreams and pursuing those dreams. All of us have (or should have) goals and dreams that we want to achieve in our lives. The common thing about “making it” or achieving your dreams at the highest level, is the amount of hard work it takes to get there. To me the above quote signifies something we all have to ask ourselves: Do you really want to put 100% into whatever you’re pursuing to make your dreams come true? Or, Do you just want to do what’s expected of you because you were too scared to chase your dreams? Do you REALLY want to WIN or just look good LOSING. In this instance, losing is just settling for less than your dreams. YPs do not live with regrets. Pursue your goals and interests with 100% effort. At the end of the day you’ll get where you’re going by giving your best.
YPs when I first got Alicia Keys’ latest album The Element of Freedom this song was my favorite. This is a song written by Drake and you can hear his vocals in the background a little bit during the song as well. I also believe this is Ms. Keys’ latest single and the video, well features the beautiful Ms. Keys of course which is always a pleasant site. Great song, Alicia Keys so what more can you ask for. Anyway, enjoy YPs and do the un-thinkable when you’re ready. (LoL)
YPs I stumbled across Bad News Brown by accident, well I was tricked because I clicked on a link I thought was for Eminem’s new single “Not Afraid”. To my surprise I wasn’t even upset that I was duped into listening to Bad News Brown’s “Reign” via his harmonica. This is something NEW, different and I can see myself just sitting back or driving or doing whatever listening to something like this by Bad News Brown. I am not familiar with Bad News Brown but I am going to get familiar and I have included some links for you ladies and gents to get acclimated with him as well. Enjoy YPs and spread the good music!
As followers of the site I know you’ve seen me post plenty of songs/blogs regarding Drake and J. Cole. Like I’ve stated over and over again I’m really huge fans of theirs and I’m really look forward to them putting out some great music for a long time. Today YPRuck hit me with a question that I’ve thought about on my own from time to time: Who is better between the two?? That question is not an easy one to answer and I’m not sure I have the true answer. I will say that I admire both of their catalogs equally. The way I view this debate is the same way I view Jay-Z vs. Nas. Read more »
YPBlogSpot I would like to introduce Tara Decoda, founder and editor of Fashion Manifesto , a fashion blog in which Tara has been sharing her passion regarding fashion via blogging for two years now. Be sure to checkout her fashion blog and her personal blog Tara Decoda where Tara shares a little more of her point of view regarding everyday issues outside of her passion for fashion. Tara is a YPBlogSpot supporter via twitter and touched base with me about doing a guest blog last week sometime. I was excited that she wanted to contribute to YPBlogSpot and after a few cordial tweets I received her blog in the YP inbox Friday. Here is YPTaraD’s take on the state of music and how we as consumers predict the climate. I enjoyed reading it and think you guys will as well. By the way, Happy 2 Year Anniversary to Fashion Manifesto !!! Enjoy and leave comments YPs whether you agree or disagree with YPTaraD!!! Support good music YPs!!!
“You Are What You Eat”
That is the saying that comes to mind when I hear people complaining about the state of music and the climate of the industry. All these complaints and rants about BET exploiting Black people, hip-hop being too derogatory, and female artists being too raunchy, but when you think about “we are what we eat” or better yet, we are what we consume. Usher returns with his new album “Raymond v. Raymond” today. A lot of people (including myself) have been down on Usher since his last album “Here I Stand.” Personally I didn’t feel like that was one of his better albums but, Usher has definitely come back strong on his new album “Raymond v. Raymond.” Check out “OMG” and my personal favorite “Mars vs. Venus” below and support the album, in stores now.
I never heard of Aloe Blacc before watching my new favorite show “How to Make It in America”. His song “I Need A Dollar” is the intro to the show and everytime the show comes on I wonder what song is playing in the background and I finally found out. Aloe Blacc is a soul singer/rapper and after checking out some more of his music I was impressed. Take a listen to “I Need A Dollar” below.
On a couple of the blog sites that I visit I kept seeing plugs for this new mixtape by Laws. I had never heard of this cat before and I ignored the plugs until I saw one of Laws’ songs was produced by 9th Wonder, who is one of my favorite producers. I checked it out and I have to say this song has been on CONSTANT repeat since I listened to it. Laws definitely held his own and 9th absolutely killed this beat. I’m a big fan of music production and this beat is just so hypnotic. This song just has a “feel good” vibe to it. Take a listen to “Shining” by Laws produced by 9th Wonder.
YPRichB: Well it looks like the self-proclaimed “King of the South” is back with his first song since being released from prison. T.I. has been one of my favorite rappers for the past 5 years or so and I’m definitely happy to see him back at it. His upcoming untitled album is due out this summer. Check out “I’m Back” below.
YPRichB: Raheem Devaughn has easily been one of my favorite R&B singers of the past few years. His previous 2 albums “Love Experience” & “Love Behind the Melody” were great albums and his newest album “The Love & War Masterpeace” follows suit. Although he’s always grouped into that whole neo-soul group (which can be a stigma for some), I group him into the “good music” category. Do yourself a favor and check out the songs below and go cop his album which is in stores today!!!
I ran across this video courtesy of American Dreaming Magazines myspace page and just thought “Wow” I must share this with YPBlogSpot. Colin Munroe is Canadian artist, songwriter, and musician as well as another artist YPRichB aka “The Music Man of YPBlogSpot” made familiar to YPs. He has collaborated with two of YPs favorite up and coming Hip-Hop artists Drake and Wale on a couple of tracks. In other words, get familiar with Colin Munroe and spell his name right because he’s soon to be a household name in music period. Enjoy!
YPRichB: As someone who truly loves music from all aspects (musical production to finished songs) I love gaining insight into artists inspiration and feelings on their projects. I’ve always been drawn to documentary style films because they are usually so insightful. I’ve never heard of K. Sparks before today but after watching this EPK (Electronic Press Kit) I’m definitely interested in checking out his music. Watch the EPK above and check out more info on the album below. It definitely seems like a worthwhile listen. Album available March 2, 2010.
