“I feel I know a little bit of everything but I’ve grown unfamiliar with limitations…”
Wale is one of my favorite young hip-hop artists because of his inspirational and motivational messages in his music. This except is from the intro off his latest mixtape “Eleven One Eleven Theory” that he released as a precursor to his 2nd studio album “Ambition” is released November 1, 2011 (Hence “Eleven One Eleven Theory”). Now to the topic at hand: people always tell you that you can do this but you can’t do that. Or you may have someone tell you that you doing too much at times. But many times people attempt to place the limitations of others on you and as with everything limitations aren’t the same for everybody. This excerpt I derived from Wale really registered with me. I am on the brink of taking on quite a few new challenges and becoming “unfamiliar with limitations” is the only way I am going to meet these challenges and accomplish my goals. YP’s identify your limitations and work on reducing/overcoming your limitations then get rid of them all together. See you guys and girls in Successville minus the limitations of course…

“I’M NERVOUS, BUT I’M NOT TERRIFIED”
YPs, I’m sure if you look back into your lives, you can find a time where you were going into a new situation that you weren’t too sure about. You probably felt nervous, anxious or even scared. I heard a man say once, when about to make a phone call to a prestigious person, “I’m Nervous, But I’m Not Terrified.” A lot of times it’s just the fear of the unknown, whether the unknown is good or bad. It’s okay to be nervous BUT YOU CANNOT BE SCARED!!!

Leadership requires the ability to make decisions, to guide, or to direct a person , group and or society to take action in order to accomplish a common goal. Many people have allowed themselves to become complacent. Ironically, and as a result we now have more followers and the prospective pool of leaders is very shallow. YPs learn and teach those how to become leaders. Leaders of their lives, leaders of their families and leaders of their communities making the prospective pool that much greater. So we begin with a question…
Question: If all our great leaders were to leave us right now. Who would take their place; and lead not only African Americans, but all Americans in their fight for accomplishing common tasks/goals?

“If you care about what others think of you, then you will always be their
slave.”
This is a pretty direct but insightful quote by Frey. A lot of times people feel pressured to do things based on what others may think or say. Personally, I’ve fallen victim to that when I was younger and it definitely led to some regrets after the fact. Always be true to what it is you want to do and try your best not to let others influence your actions. Be independent because at the end of the day, you have to live with whatever successes or failures that come with those decisions. So make sure your decisions are your own.
