YP’s, I don’t think that I am alone on this topic. I think everyone’s mind races randomly at some point in their lives. Mine just happens to work like this on a day to day basis. My favorite rapper, Joe Budden, made a song called “Sidetracked”. When this song came out, it easily became one of my favorites. It was just a song that I could relate to, in an unbelievable way. The song detailed a day in the life of a human mind. It described how one’s brain jumps from topic to topic sometimes, with no warning. I related completely, because my mind is constantly going.
With that said, I think it is very important to have an active mind. However, it is equally important to be able to channel your thoughts in a productive manner. I will not lie, there are some days, like today, when it just seems like I cannot get anything done, because my mind is all over the place. It seems as if there are so many things going on and so many things that I would like to do, that NOTHING IS BEING DONE. This is a battle that I fight often. I find that in my professional life, there are so many ideas that I want to implement but can never figure out how to go about doing so. Sometimes, once I figure out how I will go about a certain task, my mind then moves onto something else.
I know that one of the most important keys to success on my behalf, has got to be focus. I must put my mind to a particular task and follow it through til the end. Like I said before, having an active mind is great, but it does you no good if you cannot capitolize on the exciting new ideas that you come up with. In fact, today I turned my problem into this very blog. When I woke up this morning, I had an agenda planned out for myself. Somewhere along the line however, I became sidetracked and things were getting done but none of it was on my original agenda. Things happen and must recieve attention at inconvenient times, this I know. The important thing is to handle those things and get back on track, to the task at hand.
I think the best thing that I have done is to identify my problem. This way, I can catch myself sometimes and get back on track. The next best thing I’ve done is partnering up with people that I trust. YPRichB, YPJimH and YPRuck work hard for what they want. So there is always someone to keep my focus at 110%. We feed off of each other’s energy and thus far has proven to be a thriving partnership. So do not feel bad if you are a victim of becoming “SOEASILYSIDETRACKED,” it happens to the best of us. Just make sure that when you find yourself getting off track, that you pull yourself together and get focused.
