YPs: Stop and Smell the Life!!!

Good Morning YPs everywhere!!! As youngprofessionals, we sometimes get too caught up in what it takes to be successful in life, that we forget what it takes to make ourselves happy. Granted, success is in the eye of the beholder, I believe. Too many of us however, get so caught up in the public perception of success that we lose sight of what we, as people, enjoy in life. Bills have to be paid, obligations have to be taken care of, but there is more to life.

Spending time with our families, shopping with friends, laughing with a significant other, or even just sitting on the step and people watching, these are the things that really put smiles on our faces. Being a YOUNGPROFESSIONAL is not just about the grind. It is about maintaining a well balanced and productive lifestyle. When you leave the office and jump in the car to go home, try feeling excited instead of relieved. We work to provide for our families and to do the things that we enjoy in life, so when you get into your car, think about the great workout your about to have or the great meal your about to eat or the movie you cant wait to go see. Life is too short not to enjoy everything that the world has to offer. Work is a means to an end, not your end.

So when your working til 3am trying to build a strong foundation for your dreams, squeeze in 10 minutes to figure out how you’re going to squeeze in some me time, family time, friend time or vacation time. Youngprofessionals everywhere need to remember what they’re fighting for, and your fight shouldn’t be just monetary goals and other material wants but the overall enjoyment of life.

So true, one can only see his/her achievements through their own aspirations in life and if we get caught up with just making the money you will not be truly successful but lonely with your money. So be happy make $$$ but keep those you love even closer.

Very well written..This actually made me think, because when my work day is finally over, I am never excited unless it’s Friday! Reminds me of the quote “Life is 10% what happens and 90% of how we respond to it” author unknown…

I must say I have to agree with what you just posted. You know what, in other parts of the world, people work to live. In America, we live to work. Now don’t get me wrong, to each is own, but i think BALANCING those two ways of life are extremly important. Everyone’s so caught up in trying to keep up with the Jones’s that they start loosing sight of life’s true treasures. You have to grind, but while doing so, you owe it to yourself to do whatever it is that excites or relaxes you at the same time. Oh yeah, not only do guns kills, but stress will take you out too. Like Rihanna said, “Live ya Life!!!!!!!!”
