Push The Body, To Support The Mind

YPs, you know us, we are always talking about working out in the gym or wherever. Physical fitness is a big part of our lives. If you follow us on FB or Twitter, you may see YPRuck mention one of his many workout routines, from time to time. What you may not understand is that, there is a method to our madness. Although, we enjoy working out, there is a bigger purpose behind the hard work and sweaty clothes. We believe in pushing ourselves to the limit, mentally and physically.

As you know, we all have big dreams, with every intention on reaching them.  Working out is a way of conditioning ourselves to not give up.  To get where we are trying to go in life, it will take a lot of hard work everyday.  Sometimes, our minds as well as our bodies, will be tested.  To be successful, you will undoubtedly have to put in some long hours.  You will definitely have to work through fatigue.  You will surely have to be sharp when others will not be.  Working out will help aid you in those times of fatigue.  Sometimes, your mind will follow how your body feels.  If you’ve been up since 5am and are still working at 7pm, your body may try to shut down.  Although your mind will try to overpower your body, it may make some mistakes that it wouldn’t, if you weren’t as tired.

Taking care of your body is extremely important.  Along with working out, you may want to try to watch the things that you feed your body.  Unhealthy eating habits as well as bad recreational habits, will definitely catch up to you at some point.  Try working out on a regular basis, you will find that your everyday activities become much easier to complete.  I personally feel that the things that I put myself through in a workout is much harder than anything else I may encounter, in the workplace or anywhere else.  If you can fight through the exhaustion in the gym, than your body and mind will laugh at a 10 hour workday.  I personally feel best when I work out in the morning before I get my day started.  YPRuck, mainly does his workouts in the evenings and I know that works for him, because he is always up late working on being successful.  YPRichB, also prefers getting his workout in during the morning hours and YPJimH doesn’t care either way, as long as he gets the work in.  You have to figure out what works best for you.

I read various articles about successful people in Forbes and Black Enterprise, and all of the most successful people advise working out in some fashion.  There are so many positives  to working out that, it is almost ridiculous not to.  Once you begin to see results in your stamina and physique, it does something for your mental state.  You become more confident in yourself and your abilities, and you just feel like you can accomplish more in life.  You will find that you have more productive hours in a day than normal.  Do not confuse what I am saying!  It will not be easy.  You must train yourself to follow a routine and you must train yourself to become able to handle the physical strain on your body.  However, once you get used to it, you will feel like a new person.  You will be on your way to becoming a more productive YoungProfessional.  YPs Stand Up!!!

Hard to have a sound mind, when you’re body is a wreck.

Yet, being in top physical condition does not always translate into ambition…sometimes it’s pure vanity.

I hate working out, and once upon a time I was a gym rat…I work out less now, but I’m more productive in other areas of my life.
