I remember my freshmen year in college like it was yesterday. But I do notice a major change in the way I thought back then, as opposed to my mindset today. I was apart of an educational opportunity program at Rutgers College. I remember taking summer classes to ease our transition into college life, and boy was it a great time. I vividly remember one professor, and the motto for his class, “It’s all about positivity”. I believe he made us repeat that same phrase about 20 times in each class, and everytime I left, I kept thinking to myself, “man, this guy is alittle out there”. I never thought that this man was on to something, and that I would still be referring to his phrase 8 years later…
I can’t believe its been 8 years since my freshmen year in college. I’ve had many great moments and my share of hardships. Through the tough times, I keep thinking about what that professor said to us, “Its all about positivity”! Also, have you ever been around friends or family, where all they do is complain, or have a sour attitude; doesn’t it bring everyone down? When everyone is loose, and just enjoying theirselves, that’s when great times occur. No one wants to be around people who are always negative, and grouchy, well at least me anyways.
We all have choices in life, and our attitude is one of those choices. For me, when set-backs occur, I get frustrated and stressed out like anyone else. But what I try to do is focus on the positives and make lemonade out of lemons. We can’t control the things that go on around us, but we can control our attitude! So one more time for the road, and cheers to the professor that shaped my life for the better…”It’s all about positivity”!
