OBX Vacation: Priceless Rest & Relaxation

Fun in the Sun in the Pool OBX style.

There is nothing like a little R&R with family and friends.  My fiancee’ and I were invited to the Outer Banks, NC with her best friend’s family and man they don’t know how much I needed a vacation.  I’ve been through what seems like a lot the past few months from, the death of my grandmother to the unexpected death of my uncle.  I’ve never lost anyone that close to me and it definitely has taken a toll on my family and I.  Along with different stresses of my everyday life, a vacation was very much needed.

We left for our R&R destination Saturday, which was a big mistake because it took us 8 hours to reach our destination due to everyone in the world seemed to be traveling on Saturday.  We took the back roads to avoid the traffic which we did until we got to the 20 mile road to the Outer Banks and it took us 2 & a half hours to drive 20 miles.  Other than having to leave, this was the worst part of the trip but we finally arrived to the house in which we would be occupying and its beautiful.

A three level beach house, 5 or 6 bedrooms, a pool & jacuzzi, a pier, a pool table, a deck on the 2nd and 3rd levels, a bathroom on each level, a laundry room, a big kitchen and all of the above.  First order of business, the women headed out to buy food while the men were left to unpack the vehicles and this is when we found out the mosquitoes are no joke there because during the unpacking of the luggage we probably let a thousand mosquitoes in the house and boy did we pay.  But we got the mosquito issue under wraps before long.  So night one, we ate subs and cheesesteaks (which weren’t bad) and the gals got in the pool while the fellas played pool and pretty much chilled for the most part.  When it was time for bed, my lady and I reported to our quarters and I couldn’t sleep because we had a couple of mosquitoes in our room in which I got up and killed every last one of them and slept like a baby after the mosquito massacre (Lol).

The next morning, a big breakfast was being prepared and while we were waiting for breakfast we played RockBand on the Wii, which is a ball and if you haven’t played it yet, you really don’t know what your missing.  But we played RockBand before and after breakfast.  Then it was time to begin our day,  so it was off to the clubhouse to workout in the mini gym and get in the big community pool.  The fellas and I got in a nice chest workout while the ladies got into the pool and the rain prevented us from getting in the pool and subsequently cut our workout short as well because the ladies made us leave.  We headed back to the house to shower and get ready for dinner.  My fiancee’ had the responsibility to cook and baked chicken, string beans, rice pilaf and corn on the cob was on the menu and it was delicious because my baby can throw down in the kitchen.  After dinner, we had cake and ice cream along with snacks of your choice and we watched a movie or played pool or just chilled.

Our daily routine consisted of a big breakfast, fun in the sun in the pool, lunch, more fun in the sun, dinner and some good old R&R.  YP’s a little R&R with friends and family that have your best interest in mind is priceless and can only beget good times, memories, and remember the time stories for you all to share with each other in the future.  Cherish and treasure time spent and memories created with loved ones, don’t take these experiences for granted.  Once again, special thanks to the Oteys and family for allowing my future wife to be and I to tag along for a couple of days, we really appreciate the love.

I love the Outer Banks as well, I vacationed there a couple of years ago and our daily routine was pretty much the same! It was so peaceful and beautiful, the bugs were a trip as well. My whole family and I went home with bug bites everywhere, they were like sand bugs, Idk but overall OBX is a really nice place to rest, relax, and replenish…. Glad to hear you had a really nice time!
