YPRuck: Video of Jelly Bean aka Black Mamba aka Kobe Bryant at Hakeem Olajuwon’s gym in Houston, Texas learning how to do the Olajuwon’s post moves. Talk about a drive and motivation to be better. Kudos to Kobe for not being content and continuing to get better.
Kobe Bryant is no doubt the best basketball player on the planet. He has the most complete game arguably of all time but I’ll blog about him being the greatest ever another time. In the meantime, Jelly Bean already has everything in his or at least I thought so until he reached out to one of the 50 Greatest NBA players, Hakeem Olajuwon who probably had the best post moves for a 7 footer in the history of the NBA. We can not forget the way he schooled a young, dominant Shaquille O’Neal and his Orlando Magic in the 1995 NBA Finals. Olajuwon outscored Shaq in every game in route to a sweep of the Orlando Magic and was named the 1995 NBA Finals MVP for the 2nd consecutive year. Now keep in mind that Olajuwon is a 7 foot center while Kobe is a 6’8″ shooting guard already considered the best in the game and arguably the best ever, but he felt he needed to get better and by adding andlearning Olajuwon’s post moves it would take his game to another level. This is why I fell in love with Kobe Bryant in college because this man’s work ethic is second to none!
YP’s this isn’t just a blog about an athlete but this is the mentality and work ethic that can be applied to any aspect in your life. Never allow yourself to fall into the trap of content; we can always get better. YP’s we have to stop limiting ourselves or allowing others to put caps on our levels of success we can reach and achieve. If you’re never content then you’ll never be caught with your pants down andregardless of what’s thrown your way you’ll be better prepared to handle it or go around it because you’re constantly improving and getting better which increases your “ility”. Versatility, marketability, creditability, respectability and ability to be in demand and ultimately be successful in achieving your goals.
