“Happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within. It is not what we see and touch or that which others do for us which makes us happy; it is that which we think, feel, and do; first for the other fellow, and then for ourselves.”
- Heller Keller
YPJimH: TGIF YP’s, I hope everyone had an accomplished week, and got one step closer to their goals. I like this quote from Hellen Keller because it talks about something we all strive for, happiness. I like that it explains that happiness does not come from money or possessions, but from within, and helping others.
For example, every time I go to the gym, I see a gym instructor that I believe is the happiest man I ever met. Every time I see him, he greets me like I am the president of the United States. He doesn’t just treat me like this, but everyone he sees. So one day I asked him, “how are you so happy all of the time”? He told me, that he loves what he does, the people he comes in contact with, and that he is blessed. What got to me, was what he said at the end, he said, “brother, if I only had a dollar in my pocket, I would still be happy, because I have all sorts of love in my life.” He took it a little far with that statement, but I understood where he was coming from. I know it’s hard to be positive every moment, but he is someone I definitely try to emulate. Happiness is feeling within yourself, not what others, or what material possessions can provide. So Happy Friday YP’s, and in the words of my homeboy Bob Marley, “Don’t worry, be happy!”
