One of My Passions: Food

The 1st thought when you read the title of this blog is that I must be a pretty hefty individual, but I consider myself to be in pretty good shape. Nonetheless, I can’t help that one of my greatest passions in life is food. It is a simple joy, but yet it is brings me joy and deep satisfaction.  Just being able to afford it makes me a very wealthy man.

One of my favorite things about food is the various types of cuisines. You have some cultures that use more spices than others, or just different ingredients that can be pretty amazing. Each culture has something unique that they bring to the table that is both interesting and tasty. One of the great aspects of living near NYC, is that there is so much variety in the city. NYC is a huge melting pot where you can literally walk down a block and be able to find Thai, Jamaican, Indian, and Greek food. There are so many different foods in this world, and just be able to try different foods is definitely a hobby that I enjoy.

Without a doubt my favorite cuisine is Vietnamese, and a noodle soup called Pho’. People who know me, know that if I could choose one food for the rest of my life, that would be it.  I love Chinese food which includes sizzling beef, oysters in black bean sauce, shrimp with mayonnaise, fried rice, and soup dumplings to name a few. I also love sushi, hotpot, Korean, and Thai food, especially Tom Yum soup, spicy! For American, I enjoy a nice steak dinner with potatoes, a juicy burger, or simple appetizers like buffalo wings, and chicken fingers. I also love Italian food preferably with red sauce, and I can’t forget Spanish food like paella, arroz con pollo with plantains, or just chicken wings and fried rice from the corner store.

Food to say the least is a huge part of my life, and not just because I need it to survive. Food brings family and friends  together while putting smiles on everyone faces. Life is all about simple joys, and appreciating these moments. I kind of view life as my favorite entree, enjoying every moment in life to the fullest, or in this case savoring every last bite! Happy Friday YPs, and happy eating!

That bowl of noodles looks insanely yummy. You need to watch Anthony Bourdain’s visit to Vietnam on the Travel Channel- – - wow, those vietnamese people know how to EAT!
